Desiring to "train up our children in the way they should go", we teach them (Hannah right now) Bible verses. We are currently working on Galatians 5:22, 23 which is the fruit of the Spirit. Unfortunately, Hannah is a little too smart for her own good and sometimes tries to use the Bible to benefit her own cause (hmm, I wonder if I too have done that??) Anyways, this morning we were down stairs and I informed the girls that we were going up stairs to finish getting ready to leave the house for some errands. Well, when we got up stairs, instead of going to her room like she was told to, Hannah went straight to Alexa's room and started playing. I then reminded her to go to her room to get ready. She immediately came to me and said, in a slow and very deliberate voice, "the fruit of the Spirit, is love, joy, peace, patience. Mommy, you need to be patient." I looked at her pretty little face and patiently said, "and the Bible says 'children obey your parents'". She answered with, " but that isn't a fruit of the Spirit!" And I said, "but you need to obey." She then verbalized a sound of disgust and preceded to obey. : )
While I am talking about Hannah, I will also share her interpretation on the song, "Deep and Wide". : "The wide is when we tell people about Jesus and the deep is when we pray and read our Bible." Honestly, we had no part in shaping her thinking on that! All I can say is, "out of the mouths of babes!" or 4 year olds. : ) : )

Becky,Thank you for sharing about our smart little Hannah. Liz and I have missed you guy and are hoping to get down there sometime in the spring. Love us in Utah
She sounds like a firecracker! I'm sure that you guys are doing an amazing job parenting - if a 4-year old is quoting scripture (even in defiance!), then you're doing something right. :)
Becky, that is priceless! It reminds me of when my sister-in-law was singing one day in the kitchen and her four year old said, "Mom, not so loud, what would Jesus do?" Classic.
